danieldanger-snicker....I don't know what you're referring to exactly, nor do I really care...However, I will say that like them or not(let's just say not and save you the trouble of pointing out all the things you dislike) my prints do indeed have my voice--that is, it's pretty obvious that they were created by me, whereas your holy moderator has no voice of his own to speak of and I think he knows that---If you aspire to be a commercial artist like him then go for it, my aspirations are a bit higher.
I have no interest in selling toothpaste or pop music.
Let me revise that: I just looked at your stuff --Congratulations, you do seem to have a voice...Do I care for it? No, it's a bit juvenile, for my tastes, but I'm happy for your success. I'm not into comic books, er graphic novels.
Do you care? I'm sure you don't....... SO, let's end this discourse.

what im referring to is pretty obvious, and yeah, you care. you are attempting to sell prints containing and expressing the specific creative output of other people (their history, their lyrics, their words) as its selling point, using other peoples of creative property you had no hand in to carry that (photographs taken by other people you downloaded off the internet you then traced [took me two seconds to find em]). the soul of the content of your pieces isnt your creation thus is it really your voice? you just mashed it together with no parties permission. ironically, these are two things shady commercial artists who sell pop music and toothpaste often do: co-opt to sell by stealing an aesthetic. and no, its not obvious this was created by you, because all i see is other peoples words and other peoples images.
but whatever, im actually far more curious about what print separation method youre going to use on these images, given all the tonal variations and grain youre using. CMYK would be a mistake, thats a given, halftones will look dumb, so youre limited to spot colors and textural printing over that. hell, charlie is 6 colors minimum to do it right, chet is 5. but thats some technical stuff there, if ONLY THERE WERE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE WHO KNEW ABOUT ADVANCED SCREENPRINTING PRE-PRESS TECHNIQUES...
Tell me did you use any reference photos for your Coney Island illustration? Oh, and that house in "the elk guard" looks a lot like the house in "Tideland". Actually, never mind, I don't even care-really I don't---If you had taken the time to read my statement on Kickstarter you may have read:and that's what I did. And the words I chose, were the words(obviously not mine) that are relevant to what I was expressing and take on new meanings when read in the context of their lives and junk addictions....My intention was to take culturally iconic images and give them back, or give them, their proper iconic significance(in the true religious sense of that word), ..by framing them as strictly religious pieces.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Van Gogh or Frida Kahlo or Dali. I purposely incorporated images of theirs too in order to illustrate(no pun intended)that these prints are rooted in art history...Primarily, the history of religious art..If you are familiar with Frida Kahlo you might know that she collected and was quite influenced by Ex-Votos(religious paintings)...And Van Gogh was a missionary and that painting( I put the title there, so no one would mistake it as mine) hangs in the same city(my favorite--Amsterdam) where Chet Baker fell out of a window and died or as I put it "I was a fool to fall and get that way"---Needless to say, I see Dali as a religious painter too, his having been influenced by another triptych...that of Hieronymus Bosch. Bosch's egg is a lot like Dali's, which is eggactly(sorry, couldn't resist) like mine.
Re: the printing --what the hell do I know? As someone so graciously pointed out earlier, I'm not doing the printing..The "big" printing company I contacted said that they could do it--doesn't seem like it's going to come off anyhow, so I guess we'll never know....
PS. I don't know what's up with this ebay link on Frida Kahlo's name, but I can't get rid of it.

You've got it...It's really great--some Family Dog--folk art--Jazz album covers..Constructivism...Bosch--Warhol..Lichtenstein...Terry Gilliam..Art Deco...Un Chien Andalou...a little Fairey...what's not to like?
I really like your use of color--of course, I have a bias for psychedelic art-but shouldn't all art be psychedelic?--It's what poster art should be...from Greek psykhe- "mind" (see psyche) + deloun "make visible, reveal," from delos "visible, clear."
It's really gorgeous---I'm still looking at it...
Thanks for sharing..
And just so you know, this critique wasn't at all influenced by your $5 pledge promise. It's sincere.
