while humorous, i've never really got the criticism of holding posters in photos. its the easiest way to:
1. show scale
2. show it exists in real life and how the colors might differ from a digital jpg of it.
i suppose other options are pinning posters to walls or taking photos from above or using some sort of wall mounted vacuum table, but those don't seem easier to me than just holding it and taking a pic.
I always figured it was so bootleggers couldn't swipe the jpg and slap it on a t-shirt as easily.

To really get an accurate photo, wouldn't it be most realistic to put it in a flatfile and take a photo of that?
that's why i photograph all of my posters in a dumpster.
