Default Hey Artists..important..the book called "Rock poster Art"

Hi everybody. I’m Didier Maiffredy from France.
Some of you know me since the last Flatstock in Austin (Farley B, Clay from G.P, Todd S., Guy B., Rob.J etc.) and others know me by mails. I'm a long time silkscreen concert posters collector, former professor of philosophy, and it has been some years now that I've tried to make the American Poster Scene known in France through many shows or lectures. But time has come today to go even further.

I finished writing a book entitled “Rock Poster Art “(same name than my little site since 2005) that will be published in a great/large Edition house in Paris called “Eyrolles”, on the October 2012. This book (200 pages, half text, half pictures) will be sold everywhere in France but also in Europe and on internet.

What I'm writing today on Gigposters is crucial for the first step of the book. I really need your attention/collaboration. Most of the pictures of the book have already been carefully chosen / selected. But, of course, I want to avoid any problem with any artist. It means for me to get all the permissions to show the pictures of your posters, and to be sure if you are in agreement to be part of the book. The artists who will tell me they don’t want me to present their work will not be in the book. And therefore, i will not use/show pictures of their posters.
But I sincerely hope everybody would be ok to be part of this new adventure and take this rare opportunity that their talent deserves. The book will be officially presented in October at Frankfurt Book Fair, the biggest book fair in the world.

This book is very different from Art of Modern Rock. I have tried to tell the story of the American rock poster scene, to talk about Us, Australian, Canadian and European artists, to explain and show the creative diversity that the silkscreen printing and THIS silkscreen scene can allow. But also, and above all, to give to understand where it comes from, what is made / created, how it's made/created and why it's made/created. A real challenge … but a wonderful one!

So, in the coming weeks, I’m going to send an email to each artist involved (and there are many artists concerned). PLEASE, look closely my mail when it will be in your box. It will take just a few minutes for you to read it and answer, but it will be VERY important for further...For you and me.

Feel free to comment and ask any questions in this thread….
Sorry if my English words are not as clear as I would like!
    Thank you.
