Spilling beer on your original artwork

Those of you who work solely on the computer don't have to worry about ruining your originals.
I'm usually drinking beer and rocking out when I am inking up my drawings.

I used to be a regular at this bar Kennedy's in San Francisco. There was this Irish guy Malcolm who did these amazing hand drawn calligraphy signs. Super detailed and ornate. He used to do these signs for the owner of the bar in exchange for beer. One day I was in there when he was just finishing up this huge piece. It was a list of 50 people who had completed drinking all 100 different beers they served there. This thing was like 18" x 30" with a super ornate border, probably 6 colors with some metallic inks. Then the 50 names all intertwined down below the headline thing. He was sitting at a table and probably on name number 48 when I heard a scream. I look over and he had knocked over a full pint of guinness which in turn had knocked over his ink pot- completely destroying this thing he had been working on for like 4 days.

Sometimes when I am inking I remember the look on Malcolm's face and I clean my desk up.

several years ago when i used to use strathmore paper, i had accidentally bought a pad of vellum (or maybe i bought it because they were out of the stuff i normally use). i was working on something for many days, using my breaks at work to get it finished. i had a cup of coke with ice sitting next to the drawing and i bumped it, and it spilled on the drawing. i started freaking out, but then wiped it up and because it was vellum, it didn't stain.

switched to vellum after that until i started using stonehenge a few years later.

and so endeth my tale.

(i did once, however, spill a very expensive glass of belgian beer on my keyboard once.)

I once spilled an entire beer on my wacom tablet tried to wipe it off with a cat.... good times.

That's a scary story.

I may not have to be worrying about ruining any original drawings, but I use my only laptop to do my illustration/design. I've lost my eject and delete key to whiskey and beer... Just yesterday I spilled a glass of water all over my tablet. Luckily it's ok. I do need to clean this desk up...

Pro tip:

If you MUST have a liquid on your work surface, keep 'em to the left if you are righty and to the right if you are lefty. Swear to god.

those modified butt plug syringes give me the creeps...if you're gona plug something might as well use a needle, and if you get blood on your work it's that much cooler. AMIRIGHTGUYZ?!
