It's a good system but there are extra costs that piss me off, wifi, multiplayer and such. PS3 has all that built in plus it's a blu ray player. A win in my book.
Honestly, I'd look at games - they will be deciding factor. I have both a 360 and a PS3 and it's fair to say the 360 is my favourite. More comfortable controllers, a more initiative interface and a better selection of games swung it for me.
Swarez has a point though, it is annoying to pay for live. Saying that, I've found the online features to be a lot smoother in the 360 so it's swings and roundabouts. I haven't hooked my 360 up for over a year (online, this is) and it's still used more then the PS3.
One other aspect to consider might be that there will be a new generation of consoles in a few years. The PS3 will still be relevant as a blu ray player if you upgrade while I'm not sure what the 360 can bring to the table once you've stepped up.
So I'm going to say 360 > PS3, but I can't knock either of them.
My xbox has been great. I don't even use it to play games that much anymore. We use it as a media center more than anything else. Throw an old laptop/crappy old pc with a usb drive in the closet and stream everything to the tv via the xbox. Games for it are also cheap if you wait a few months.
gotta agree. love the xbox.

My 360 died about 8 months ago and I'm glad it did. I was playing way too much Halo Reach online and the cold turkey made me realize how much of a life-suck video games can be, no matter how fun. I suck at time management.
PS3 is better for multimedia, Xbox is better for games.
If i could have $200 in mexican food instead of my xbox.... i would. seriously.
thanks guys. that's the crap i wanted to hear.
