A little graphic help

Hey guys, so I'm in illustrator and I want my text on an angle like in these photos. When I type on a path the text goes in the direction of the angle where as i want it to go straight up. I've also tried envelope distort/warp/rise and it kind of gives the effect i want, but it adds a funky wave i don't want. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

free transform tool in Illustrator. (hit the 'e' key)

press E which is the free transform tool, then grab the right center transform anchor then while holding command (and shift, will cause it to go straight up) just move your right side up.

weird. i always do it in pshop but i tried 'E' in illustrator and no dice. I'm in CS2 so is it in a newer version?
