    Default new televisionz

    yo..
so today, my 52 inch rear projection i paid 200 bucks for 8 years ago finally died...
guess it's time to step up...
lookin for at least 42 inch, hopefully bigger. don't really care about 3d or wifi or any of that other bullshit.
i basically wanna watch tv and movies. i don't do a lot of gaming and most of that is on my pc.
i'm probably gonna hold off until all the holiday sales but thought some of you folks might have some recommendations.
oh yeah, we're hoping to keep it less than 1000.00 but wanna know what you guys have...
Am I going to have to call al sharpton to get some mother fucking tartar sauce up in here?

I am super happy with my Samsung so far...and if you are looking for no extra frills you can easily get a 50" TV for under 1000.00

the last two i've had have been Samsungs. first was a plasma, the second an lcd. both are amazing pictures and although purists will say the plasma is a better image, i prefer the lcd because it's lighter, doesn't get as hot, and frankly looks better in the room.

no matter what the brand though, the two things i now can't live without are

    - wireless connection with a netflix widget
    - a usb input for viewing (a'hem) stuff downloaded

the quality of both is amazing and i rarely watch dvds because of it

i'm quite certain you can find something 55 inches or less with those features for at or less $1000

In my research of a year or so ago, not only was Samsung the good bet, but I noticed that the good price break is around the 46" model. I got a 46" previous year model right after the latest one came out. Only difference was about a half an inch of thickness or something pointless like that. I looked it over at a Best Buy and then bought it on Newegg.

and a note on the internet connection/netflix - I ended up getting a Samsung Bluray player with that capability. so it's not a 'must' for the set itself if you think you're gonna pick up a BD player.
