Default Not the Spaces You Know ... Three Lobed box set

    Hey all,
A project I spent the first few months of this year working on is now on the shelves and got a nice review on Pitchfork today:

    http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/...-between-them/

It's a 4xLP + bonus 7" vinyl box set from NC-based Three Lobed Recordings with new music from Sonic Youth, Sun City Girls, Bardo Pond, Steve Gunn, D. Charles Speer and the Helix, Comets on Fire, Mouthus, Wooden Wand, Eternal Tapestry, Hush Arbors, and Key Demo.

I did a series of six paintings and six line drawings of the same subjects for the front and back covers of the box and all of the sleeves.

NPR streamed one of the Sonic Youth tracks and the INCREDIBLE 20-minute Steve Gunn piece last month:
Song Premiere: Sonic Youth, 'Out And In' : All Songs Considered Blog : NPR

Listen: Steve Gunn, 'The Lurker Extended' : All Songs Considered Blog : NPR

Anyway, I encourage you all to get a copy if it's not sold out.
three lobed recordings: TLR 080: not the spaces you know, but between them 4xLP box set
I'm really proud to be a part of this project. Below are the images I did for the set.

    Wow, those are awesome looking!
Is there any relationship between the artists or the music on the records that share the image done in different styles?

    Thanks!
Cory (label owner) definitely did his best to pair the artists up according to similar sounds, but as far as I know, there are no shared members between sides. One of the bands on the 7" does share a member or two with one of the 12" bands, though.
WXDU in Durham NC did a five-hour feature last saturday, playing the entire set with interviews in between sides. The sequence felt surprisingly natural, despite the vast differences in sounds between the artists. The Steve Gunn side was the surprise hit for me. I love his piece.

Oh, and the shared imagery is front/back of the same split 12".
