    STOP THE WALL

So, I am looking for people to join this facebook group in support of stopping 20' wall from being constructed directly adjacent to my house and neighborhood. It is said to be for mitigating sound from the highway but this couldn't be further from the truth, as the highway noise is not a concern.

If you have dealt with sound wall construction in the past or similar issues please post them. If you just want to keep up with the fight, please stay tuned at the facebook site.
From renderings to diagrams and analysis I will be combating the misinformation that is being used to sell the development of the wall. More information is on the website and will be added daily.
    Thanks for your support.

those sound walls don't need to be 20 ft high, do they? my understanding is pretty limited, but i paid a visit to an acoustics research lab at university of british columbia who specialized in that. it was pretty sweet, really-got the head of the program to let me spend some time in the dark in their anechoic chamber.

By their calculations and the definitions of the laws allowing them to attempt to do it they have to be 20'.

Hard surfaces that are flat...don't stop sound at all...they amplify it. It is a total boondoggle that is being proposed to be paid for by a toll lane that would be put in the middle of mopac. So...do a sound study and then use that to argue for the need for a wall to make the argument for a toll lane to pay for the wall that would only supposedly be necessary if the lanes were there, but they would only be there if the walls were there, so as to pay for them.

That is the logic I was sold. Someone is making some easy money and doning nothing constructive with it.

They could do things that would mitigate sound but this wall is not one of them...not to mention sound is not an issue on that road as it is.
