    Default Tour Poster modus operandi

    Hello gentle souls (and others):

I was just asked to do a tour poster for a band doing a national tour. I have never done this before.
So. They offered me a flat fee... which seems a bit low, but I can deal with that.

Is it common practice to ask for posters (50-100) and tickets to the local show as further compensation?
For any of you that have done this sort of thing before... any advice on this?

Thanks in advance for all your thoughtful comments and smart ass commentary!

Are you printing it or are they?

If they're doing the printing then probably a no-go on the poster part.

Thanks for the help! ...even if the offer is half of what I usually would expect and on a quick turnaround? I'm guessing that printing some extras would be preferable for them over extra payment...

They're paying you to design something they'll own in some way. Price accordingly. Accept or do not accept their flat fee.

You can ask em for the extra posters for yourself, your call.

Makes sense... just didn't know if there were some other aspect to it... Cheers!

I'd ask for a guestlist and the extras, yeah. 50 would be a better number for them and still a decent amount of posters for you to sell. More may end up being a bit of a millstone round your neck...
