    Default Laser Cutting - Prototyping - Austin, TX

    Hey all!

    It has been awhile...I am stopping in to let everyone know that I am providing Laser Cutting, engraving, etc. to architects, designers, artists in Austin.

    While I am getting the service side setup and the website setup I thought I would let people have a discount via gigposters until things are up and running.

    The cost is going to be $50 an hour for laser time. $15 one time setup fee for the art...and $50 for watching the laser.

    For the next month I will drop the fee for watching the laser. So, basically $50 and our for laser time and the setup of $15,

    After a month it will be a fee for watching the laser as well.

    You do have to provide your own materials. Almost all wood, paper, chipboard, cardboard, glass, stamp material, etc. Wood upto 1/4" thick. No vinyl or plastics that offgas, anything with vinyl...pvc, etc.

    Ultimately there will be classes one could take and be allowed to manage the job themselves. There will also be a 3D printer and a 3 Axis mill within the next year - 3D printer coming first.

    If you are interested email me at jason at thepeculiarform dot com

    Finally got the website up.

    /// FABLABATX /// design.research.investigation ///

    $50 bucks for an hour of laser time with no setup or management fee (someone has to watch the laser while it runs. Ill do it for free until the end of august)

    I etched some business cards on both sides and cut them in about 3-4 minutes each. Although I only had a 4up...you could get more done using the full print bed.

    If you want to come by and do a sample run on your material let me know.

    Thanks,
    Jason

    Here is an example of some cards. These cards are directly recycled from cereal boxes. On one side the laser removed a small layer for etching...then on the ink side of the box the laser removed only the ink later of the box revealing text from the ink that was left.
