Default poster pricing resource? (not the beanzzzz)

So I have an old (2000 San Diego Billboard) Obey print that a friend gave me a few years back. I figured it was worth a few hundred maybe, but I just visited a gallery yesterday that had a similar era poster (regular numbered edition) for sale at $4,500.00. So, not realizing that some of these smaller prints could be worth that much, I went home and looked at mine a bit more closely. Turns out mine is an Artist Proof, and I'm assuming that might make it even more valuable. I don't really have any interest in selling it, I like HAVING art...but I am now very curious. I did a quick Google search and was having trouble finding a good resource for this kind of info. Anyone got any tips?

it may be priced at $4500, but it hasnt actually sold at $4500. my guess is its worth a couple hundred bucks, if that, and that gallery doesnt know what theyre doing. EB is sort of the best for this sort of thing as it catalogs what things have actually sold for, which is actually telling information, because seeing what people are asking elsewhere is useless honestly because youre talking about hyped up artwork that people are going to price up because they think they can.

why would you not want to use EB to get an idea of value? it's a great resource to find out what things are currently selling for. as far as the AP version goes, can't imagine it would add that much to the value. i'm sure there's a thread about it over at EB.

According to the beanzz, your initial valuation of a few hundred maybe, is spot on.
