    Default Photoshop CS5 annoyance

Photoshop CS5 question: How the hell do you de-activate this? I drag an image into PS and it brings it into the current artwork panel instead of opening a separate document/window?

additional rant: so far, i still hate the tabs and wish i could get rid of them altogether, though i'm sure i'll warm up to them.

i hate changes. get off of my lawn!

my biggest gripe is that it occasionally just locks up when I select the type tool. I have 4 gigs of memory, ain't that enough?

i just added 6 the other day for a total of 18. mwahahah.

but i noticed that earlier. i attributed it to my stupid computer going to sleep and having trouble waking back up fully.

Drag them into the right side area of the toolbar above the tabs and it will open it in a new tab and not into the current document.

I don't have CS5 yet but that could be turned off in CS4 under preferences/interface. I never warmed up to the docking and tabs.

Oh and I think when you turn off tabs this will also solve your initial drag and drop problem. Just a hunch.

did you adjust how much photoshop can use? if you add more memory but don't allow it use it, it well...doesn't use it.

that's not the same thing as this. from what i understand, i just have to make sure not to accidentally drag an image onto an existing document so it doesn't try to past it into said document as a smart object.
