About this project

Super-Natura is the title for a project I have recently begun. For this film, I am using real insects to make puppets for a slightly surreal film about nature. That means getting my hands dirty with bugs, armature wire, hot glue, and other materials to make insect puppets that consolidate various insect bodies into new and slightly unreal characters. What I want to do with them is simple, animate them in nature in a stop motion film which documents their would-be experiences to create a world that is part science, part imagination, and all kinds of beautiful. The image above is of a grasshopper already puppeted. You can see little pieces of hot glue and the wire behind its wings. Everything here is movable, the head twists back and forth, and body is segmented, all legs and wings are rigged to move. If I don't reach my $3000 goal by June 23rd, this project will not be funded through Kickstarter. I need this cash to be able to build everything, and to begin the animation. Without it, this film will be mostly computer generated, and I'm not half as interested in that as I am in a real stop motion film. Back this project and help make it happen!

two project facts, if everyone who looked at this page pledged just $1, and then reposted, reblogged, or passed in emails to any friends who would also be interested, my daily goal of $100 from now until June 23rd would become really approachable for everyone, and it would be a real team effort that gets the film made! I already have other animators literally volunteering their time to help make this movie! Help in any way you can and be satisfied in knowing you were part of the reason it happened. I'll post an animation test of another bug puppet later in this thread.
