Get in, money grab before the awfulness of the new one ruins both movies, then no one will want to watch either one.

Has there ever been a successful remake? The only one I can think of that was decent was texas chainsaw massacre, and only because it had the drill sergeant from full metal jacket.

It's not going to be a remake, for what it's worth.

oceans 11 was not only way better, it made a ton of money. the original was not so good.
i'm not opposed to taking a bad movie and making it better, i'm skeptical of taking a great movie and making it "modern."
why not remake 2001,? because we all know Kubrick had no vision, and his technical ideas have been surpassed, right? unless you watched the making of Inception. total bite in some of the processes, but at least Nolan admits this.
so, why not rewrite Finnegans Wake? I dare any of you try. not possible. films are easier targets.
this may not be a remake like Skully said, and I have heard the same, so I will wait and see, but for me, this movie is sacred.
but i do understand the financial logic behind this. you all here are a bunch of artists, so you will not be their core demographic. they are banking on a new audience. a lees sophisticated crowd, if there is one... this will probably be seen for the first time by many that never saw the original, and they will not know what they are missing unless they do some research.

fyi, the final squeal to texas chainsaw massacre was great, but Tobi H. was involved in the remake. it's not always done this way. just saying...

...I'm sure there's more. That said, remakes are often lazy or much, much worse than the original. Classics like Blade Runner don't need them.

If it has the original writer and Ridley Scott directing, I'll see it. I guess it all depends on how Prometheus does as well.
