I'm new to this because we just got a PS3 and heard you can download to a flashdrive and play on the PS3.
I'm dumb when it comes to learning the new shiz.

I've used Handbrake to get stuff off my DVD's and put them onto a small 60 GB portable USB hard drive. I then plug it right in to the USB ports on my xbox 360 and it's ready to watch. I think it's just as simple on the PS3.
If you download the stuff just make sure it's in the right format. But they all seem to play most of the mainstream encodes you'd download anyway.
Phoon didn't understand a word of that.

I wish PS3 could liveconvert and play all formats.
Just plug the PS3 or Xbox 360 into your router, get Windows Media Player 11 and tell it to allow the PS3 and to share your Videos folder, boom you're done, no need to use a flash drive. Been doing this since Christmas (just got a PS3) and it's amazing. Here's a link with pictures:
How to stream Media to the PS3 with Windows Media Player
I imagine it'd work the same over wireless, but I ran a cable just to have it 100% awesome, full speed, no dropouts, etc.
