My favorite brands of acrylics are
Lascaux, Daler Rowney (System 3) Liquitex, Golden and Tri Art. Tri Art is a canadian brand and pretty good stuff for their price.

Yeah I bought really, really cheap ones just to get an idea of what acrylics looked like. The idea was I'd buy expensive ones if I liked them. I don't think I got a good idea of what they're really like though!
