yeah... pretty easy actually... artwork is on a separate layer from the wood background... drop in a distressed texture (blown out to black and white bitmap), select the black areas of the texture, hide texture layer, go to artwork layer, delete selection area... then go to the wood layer with the same selection and darken selected area using levels...

yeah, you can just take a picture of just about anything, convert to greyscale, use "threshold" in Pshop to get the contrast right... plus there are lots on the web...

here is a step by step... click for larger picture

1. Photoshop file with artwork on one layer and wood background on another layer

2. bring in your black and white texture file and make a selection of just the black

3. turn of texture layer and go to your artwork layer, still keeping your selection area

4. hit delete and erase the texture selection from artwork

5. go to your background layer, still with your selection, and use levels to darken the background file to match...
