Thanks everyone, took me awhile but I like how it came out. Dan, yeah...trying to get that ship to break off that mess there was a challenge, I'll definately try your idea and see if that provides the break away I'm looking for. Thanks for the suggestions.

or you could continue the thick line that runs around the boat down the right side edge of the wave into his sleeve... that may pop the entire wave to the front... including the boat... ?

Working in the ad world, it is often dictated that I work in the style of a preexisting campaign so I know where you're coming from. That's a great style you have going there, and while it is clearly inspired from maxx242, and you may have meant to mimic him exactly, i can see the difference. His hatch-marks, though very controlled, are much less regular than yours. I actually prefer your line-work here over the one of his that I assume inspired you:

Though his lettering is exceptional, and I think your drawing could also benefit from the depth of using some subtle colored shading as his image has.

rules Jeph. I like the thick stroke around the boat, but definitely think it needs a stronger stroke on the left side of the water and on the right side like dspring said
