You should try to do something else.

Seriously.

And I DO get this naive, primitive, anybody can do it kinda drawings.

This just not the good kind.

But keep drawing.

Alright. I'm trying to hone down on my skills right now. I've been a lazy bitch all year.

GPB:

Don't ink in the white in the splash.

Get rid of the Japanese Rising Sun. Make it more atmospheric, real, like the rest of the piece.

Go back in and tighten all those lines by inking over them, either with pen or in PS.

Do the same with the water.

If it were me, I'd make this monochromatic blues and greys.

If you're going to go with subject matter that's already cliched (no offense meant) it has to be tight as hell.

Check this guy out for inspiration.

Robert Wyland, muralist: Wyland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He did the huge mural on the Convention Center in Long Beach, CA and a tons of other stuff.

Right on there Pino. Leagues that aren't compelled to put an entire novella on their posters are the best.

And I forgot to post the finals of what I was working on.
Here's the full monty from last weekend's bout.
Poster, handbill, 2 ads and a bout book cover.
Illo by Eric Powell. Layout by me and your momma.
