Thanks, Ryan. I haven't tried to do a painting in this style or subject matter in a long time now. So it didn't come out exactly as I wanted but I'm fairly happy with it anyway. I just can't seem to get things to not look really flat. I just don't understand lighting very well at all. So, I try to make up for it by adding lots of detail. It's a lot of very thin layers of paint. Like... a lot of them. Even more thin than I usually work and that is saying something. I use acrylics at about the consistency of water colors.

Yeah, it has a lot of depth to it. That's something that was missing in the other paintings I've seen from you. I don't know shit about painting, just what looks cool to my eye. I'm trying to learn as well, but it looked like a large leap in technique from the last painting I saw. Really cool.

I used to try to paint more like this and realized that I wasn't as good at it as I wanted to be so I kind of veered off and started doing other style stuff. I had done an ink drawing of this zombie dude that I really liked so I decided to paint him. Nor sure what direction I'll go next.

I hate working with goopy paint. It's unwieldy and I can't get the effects I want. I'd rather build thin layers. But, hey.... that is most likely my uptight OCD.

That is likely why i am so afraid of oils.
