Default the 'new' NYC MOMA vs the 'old Met'

so...over the weekend I went to both and I have to say the 'new MOMA is waaaaaaaayyyyyy
crappier, especially the way the modern art sections are laid out etc than the old fuddy-duudyy MET. the Met modern art wings where awesome and the scope was epoic..at the Moma it was all sort of crammed into a series of shabby looking little ill lit rooms. at the Met there where these really big, really well lit galleries and the stuff looked amazing, especially the 35 foot tall Warhol Mao. who would have think it.

    so weird.

I think the Moma's strength is that they rotate their modern stuff a bit more since that is their focus. I agree though. I haven't gotten used to the new spaces.

I was nice meeting you at the Harley show. You're a lot nicer in person.

I've seen the Mao in Chicago, or another version of it in the Art Institute. Way awesome. Monumental!

I was bummed cause the Moma advertised 'polish posters 1945-1989'' which sounded great then when we finally found the 'exhibit' it was literally 14 or so posters just stuck in the corner of the now depressingly crappy 'good design' room. total ripoff.

They always delegate the poster to that design section and often they are stuck behind a bunch of furniture on pedestals. What cool car did they have up there this time?

Last time I went to the Moma that design room had a wall of ugly 90's Emigre fonts. Hopefully that's gone.

It's a ways outside the city, but if you want giant things in giant rooms with lots of light, you can't beat the Dia Beacon.

Knowing both of you were there just made my shitty weekend of being laid up in bed with a fucked up back ten times shittier. I should have just taken five shots of whiskey, paid $80 for the round trip cab fare and left the house.

    Goddamn it.
