"American Artifact: The Rise of American Rock Poster Art", will be doing a Pre-release DVD fundraiser for GigPosters.com.
As is mentioned in the movie, GigPosters.com has quickly become one of the largest cyber hangouts for the rock poster artist community.
Completely self-funded, the site was started by Clay Hayes, a Calgary poster collector and computer programmer who decided to start the site in 2001 to showcase his own collection of posters. GigPosters.com quickly grew, and it now boasts over 22,000 active members.
However, Clay still single-handedly manages the up-keep of the servers and daily maintenance of GigPosters.com, keeping the community going with revenue from the sales of his book (Gig Posters Vol. 1), various merchandise, premium memberships, and banner ad sales.
"American Artifact" is donating 15 advance copies of the Deluxe Double DVD of the movie to help out the cause. The DVD, which won't be officially released until November, 2009, features the movie plus almost two hours of deleted scenes and extra material.
The advance DVD copies will be available for the price of $34 plus shipping. 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit Clay and GigPosters.com.
This is a special advance release opportunity, and a chance for those interested in getting a hold of the DVD before it's official release date in November, to do so. But most importantly, it's a chance to help out Clay and the GigPosters.com community to keep their site going.
