Default Official GigPosters.com Cookbook - the idea thread

Inspired by a post that comahead made in a different thread, I was thinking that a GP cookbook would be an excellent idea! Many regulars to this site know that there are many, many good cooks amongst us with amazing recipes to share.

So .. now it comes down to making a plan and making it happen.

What I'm looking for is ideas, opinions and general discussion to help me nail down what will happen.

Here's my thoughts so far (very rough, and i'm sure things will change as we all brainstorm):

- After looking at quotes from lulu.com, it appears that an 8 1/2" x 11" black and white book would be the way to go. (this would result in a $10 to $15 final price for the book). If its color, it would be $30 to $40 and I'm thinking that would be too much for most people to pay.

** It might be possible to bring the printing cost down if someone knows a better way to make a book. I'm pretty clueless.

- I'm thinking it would be open to GP designers only (why? - well, check out the next line)

- Each designer would get a 2 page spread to design however they like (including poster images, bio, contact information etc .. and of course - however many recipies they can fit in the rest of the space). I'm thinking this would be 'payment' for participating in the book. (major publicity - a designer contact list / advertisement)

- The cover would be color, and I would need someone to design / help set that up. I'm not sure how I will go about choosing that yet.

- Coil-bound for easy use i the kitchen

- I'm thinking it would be a first-come-first serve signup process? (perhaps in the premium section).

- My guess is that 50 designers could participate (or more or less depending on printing costs etc)

- I'm thinking that it would be first-come-first server for recipes as well. Meaning - people would decide what they will be including, and I'll make a list. This will prevent duplicates (we don't want 18 chili recipes etc)

- If all flys well and this project succeeds, I don't see why we couldn't do an annual cookbook or something. If we go with lulu etc - it would be pretty easy. (just upload and they do the rest).

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Let me know what you think about everything (bad ideas, good ideas, more ideas etc).

-Clay

to help with the repeat recipe stuff...

itd be cool to break it into a few sections maybe- breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, cocktails...etc. or sections by theme.

Each recipe page could feature artist pic and/or illustration or Maybe book could be multi-handbills with recipe on one side and illustration on the other, packaged in some type of tin can.Numbered and embossed.I would help with financing if needed.
