So Clay, I have a question: will this new site be like GP in that people submit record covers they've designed? Not just some yahoo posting "Whipped Cream and Other Delights"?
If so, this is an great idea and much needed. Forget the "collectors" aspect of it. This could be a tremendous archive. Way to go. |

Philly: I'm not disrespecting collectors as in "I collect cool albums" (shit, I collect records). I just think it would be kind of lame to turn it into E-bay junior and have people posting stuff simply because it was worth something. If you've ever been to a record convention you know what I mean. "This rare Britney Spears Cd-EP goes for $50.00 in Japan!". It would be like if people started posting well-known Beatles posters on this site. Even that isn't a great example 'cause posters are much rarer than LPs for the most part. It's a whole different animal, you know?
Just my two cents, Clay. You'll do what you wanna anyways. |

Well .. to be honest, I had no idea who would be interested in gigposters.com when we created it. Turns out designers took over the forums, and its doing real well.
I'm just gonna make these sites.. and see what happens. I would much rather see cool art than Britney Spears, but it all depends on what is submitted. We've got a Britney Spears poster on here: http://www.gigposters.com/posters.php?band=5842 ..but it hides in the shadows of all this great art. I will be promoting the site primarily to artists and designers. I will not be scouring CDNow for images. I prefer the way things developed here at GP. But who knows? I just hope it all works out. |

Good pragmatic answer, Clay. Cool deal. Can't wait.
