i'd pay more if it would limit some of the excess junk on the site, bs posters, bs postings, people selling crap without classifieds, etc.. Whatever you wanted to do that you think was best I'd stand behind, Clay, and i'd imagine that would be true for the majority of the OGs on here that remember the golden era of GP.
As many have said, I am premium, mainly to support the site. I have taken out banner ads, and done the classifieds...all which bring $$ to the site...I think charging to do the basics like posting, etc. would possibly bring less action here.
With that said, what if you really stripped down the site to the bare minimum, to relieve you of any extra work...
Like have all the posters (searchable by designer or band), and forum, maybe classifieds...period.
I am not sure of all the other areas, if they are more work for you or not, but I personally never check top lists, top posters, top favorites, my favorites, my collection, hot links, arcade, widgets, chat...
I mainly check all the posters, and read the forums.
If cutting out some areas makes less work for you, maybe that is a start...
Internet kids: no class, no originality. Didn't even flip horizontal.

I agree with,
Aggressive moderation, manual approval of new accounts, more extensive automated filters & no fee for casual site users.
A couple young tech savvy volunteers wouldn't hurt.
Someone should be moderating and upload new posters daily. It's like a ghost town over here lately.
Maybe ban Luke Drozd as a contingency plan ?
but they clearly changed at least 10% of the original.

Can you use that deal where when someone signs up, they have to give an email address and then it says, you just have one more step...you will receive an email and when you do, you have to click a link, which brings you back here to sign in...
I have had to do that for a few sites and services that I signed up for.
Would that show that there is a real human on the other end that has to follow up?
Or can spam get around that too?
Yes - it always has required email validation. Spam bots do that with ease...
