Good point Jason, I paraphrased you there but it's good advice.

    Smile Update : 2010

    Hi all.
I just wanted to add an addendum to this particular thread. It's been several years since Steve Kapo passed, and recently it's come full circle. Long story short, I was asked to design the artwork for a particular concert by the band ANTHRAX. Being a freelance artist (which I continue to this day) I had to balance a full time 6 day a week day job, with a freelance newpaper column at night, along with jobs I'd already taken to design gig posters myself. That said, when I realized I myself could not fulfill a dream of my own - I wanted someone I knew who loved the band like we did to do the poster. I called Steve. I had met Steve while working at a record store in Michigan. Steve was in the music scene , and played in several bands, so he was PLUGGED in and to be surprise, an AMAZING artist. I called Steve, who's jaw dropped and he accepted. I remember because he kept asking " Are you sure? It's ANTHRAX Chris ! " I knew, but I also knew Steve would do me right. He did and then some. His poster incorporated Captain America throwing his shield by way of his bold clean lines. I'll post the poster I have after I get back from work tonite. When Steve passed, Alex Ross stepped up and accepted a redesign of Steve's concept and poster , even making Steve Cap into - well, "STEVE" . It's my connection to Ross that makes this cool .....after moving from Detroit due to economics and meeting my artist muse-mate Tia, I ended up in California. After several false starts, I've ended up working for THE CHUCK JONES GALLERY in San Diego's Gaslamp District . I'm across from the Hard Rock Hotel, and several high end eateries/wineries. I'm also across the street from the Convention Center the world famous COMIC CON is held. Where Alex Ross has the LARGEST BOOTH in Con History ( I'm told) . We also sell limited art prints of Alex Ross artwork and recently had several signed works in the Gallery. So now I'm selling 1-5 Thousand dollar works of art - and I have a connection, in a Kevin Bacon way to Mr Ross. I cannot wait to attend the Con next year, as we have Gallery space there .....and introduce myself and thank him in person. See ? You made me remember you again Steve. I know yer up there smiling.....or headbanging is more like it.
