yeah, i was planning on getting floor specific paint (if that's an option). at the minimum, it would be several coats of high quality oil based. rain does blow onto the porch during medium to torrential downpours. with the new wood, i was able to build up a bit of an angle on it so that the water flows towards the edge of the porch (unlike how it was before, which made it pool on the porch or flow to the house). it wouldn't be too much of an issue to mop it every once in a while.
