My real advice would be just to buy the epson cartridges, that way you have no problem. The cost is high, but I bet they will last you at least 2 years. I go through 2 black cartridges a year, and probably print over 1000 films a year with them.

But, no I have never switched, mostly because the 3000 is the cheapest printer I have ever run as far as ink cost vs volume of printing. If you are going to switch, I would do everything I could to get all the epson ink out of the printer before switching. If that means cleaning cartridges and cotton swabs, then do it. Otherwise you are going to be spending hundreds on a new head, or a new printer.
