I recall a friend of mine talking about trying that dog accupunture thing. I don't recall if he tried it out or just considered it. Hasn't mentioned it lately. We both have elderly dogs, so pet ailments is a conversation we have often.

My dog is going on 16. He has cushing's disease (small benign tumor in the brain), heart disease, and failing kidneys. We give him intravenous fluids three nights a weeks, without it the kidney ailment would have taken him years ago.

He had a stroke two weeks ago today. We scheduled to have him put to sleep the following week, then he made an unexpectedly miraculous recovery. It's very day-by-day. We figure that we have weeks left with him, but 2 years ago a vet told us "two or three months," so who knows?

It's tough.

Have you talked to your vet about pain-killers?

Sorry I don't have any better advice.
