Higher tension = good, better, best.
the idea you have to press harder is counterintuitive - with higher tension, you can use less off contact to acheive snapoff after your squeegee stroke. Less off contact means less pressure to contact the screen to the paper or shirt.
Higher tension also allows for easier coating, reclaiming, better registration and sharper prints. You will also get better inkflow, because the spaces between the threads are opened too their maximum potential. The only drawback is they may be more prone to ripping if they get nicked or you damage some threads. Avoid printing near the frame edge, or you risk delaminating.
