i number in the left lower corner, title in the center on art prints, (not posters), and sign in the right bottom corner.
i used to sign and number on the back, because i was a shy dolt. but i got tired of having people ask me to sign them again on the front at shows and / or send prints back for the same.
i don't know nothing about the Art World in general, but i figure a) give the people what they want (hellooo ray davies!) and b) if editioning, signing and numbering on the front worked in the past for everyone from the old masters and modernist print makers, it's good enough for me.
