Nope, can't agree with that. Let's Dance was ok, not his greatest moment (Modern Love is not a bad tune). The Blue Jean 12" came later and is one of my favorite Bowie songs. Included on Tonight— sandwiched between Let's Dance and Don't Let Me Down and, an otherwise less than noteworthy album, it is often overlooked. The version of Dancin' with the Big Boys on the Blue Jean B-Side is a great track, too.

I'm Afraid of Americans is a pretty good song, too, off of Earthling.

That said, yes, his 70s period was his most creatively inspired.

His live show is still truly outstanding. I've seen him many many times. Even if he put out a lot of spotty albums, over a career as long as his he would only need one great song on every other album to have two hours of great songs. As it turns out, especially at his peak, he put out great songs much more frequently than that. The back catalog he has to pull from for his live show, much like the Stones, is staggering.
