I met Rolando Blackman at the Galleria when the Knicks were playing the Rockets in the finals. No one knew who he was. He was my favorite Mav back in the day.
40 x 26 jackhole... still have the back spasams to prove it. This, Built to Spill and Social Distortion are all in the 40" range...Slayer is pretty damn big too...
I believe this is our largest print to date...no sure of the exact porportions..but i thinks its over 40" on the long side. We had to borrow large screens from Satch just to print it...then we had to borrow his printing skills. Amon Tobin liked it alot as did the other artists.
stink, I'm trying to educate the poor boy about print production, but he just won't listen.. he keeps talkin about Noam Chomski and how he wants to convert to the Log Cabin Republican party
I felt a bit let down by the show, it was cool to see Amon Tobin and all but I kinda expoected Amon Tobin, not "DJ Tobin". Mr Scruff was pretty good though. This poster is still great however, and if I had 40 dollars I would have this bugger on my wall. Great poster.
man that is a trip...and I did not do the work...would have been happ to though. I am a motion graphics fan/artist and there is a lot of similar taste in the field...BBC splashes, Travel channel splashes, TLC splashes are all very flash motion graphics style - notice alot of break beat drum and bass is used too on these short spots, because similar minded folks are creating commercials and the splashes.
plastk, you should take a look at the fox thing, they have a small animated one on their logo here. http://www.fox.com/home.htm On the tv theres a lot more to it and is closer to these posters. The correlation I was wondering about was if perhaps you had created it for fox. The similarity is kind of uncanny, albeit blue.
Hynes - no corellation whatsoever, don't watch fox so I would not know. Amon Tobin was the inspiration...jazz meets drum and bass that moves sporadically creating a form.
Also was trying to create an abstract representation of grafiti as well while using only one color with differing tones defining its space. It was thought of while talking with Pedini and Satch over beer at the Crown.
Glad some of you like it - can't wait to see Amon Tobin, one of my favorites.
This poster is for Ninja Tune and not for a particular promoter or venue.
you nailed that. totally invasive little animated thing. i'm sick of crap all over the bottom of the screen. logos, clocks, news crawls... i want to tape a piece of cardboard over the bottom 2 inches of my screen. i'll only take it off for subtitled kung fu.
but this is a neato poster, i swear.
