I finally got my copies. With two days to get them up around town. Going to be fun. Anyway, these look awesome in person. The texture of the paper really adds a lot to it. Gives it a dirty, gritty look and feel to the poster. I'm thinking scrawling over the wrong info might make it even better. Although I think the scrawling should be done with a little bit of flair.
Art's supposed to go to the show. I'll have him on the list. Of course he's been on the list to a few of my shows and didn't go. But he told me he's been threatened physical violence towards him if he doesn't go. Not by me. So hopefully that'll get him there. And I will wish Dan a happy anniversary. Thanks ENM!
I got to talking with The Cheetah about Art. He's got nothin' but love n' respect for him.
Man, everybody on that bill was so cool. Be sure to wish Dan a belated Happy Wedding Anniversary!(two years with his wife, as of October 4th. The man was away from his wife and stuck in Winnipeg...yeesh!)
you'll keep the spirit of the poster by writing the venue name. rather than pasting in something that's close. you could ask chantry how he'd treat it. i hear he knows a thing or two about design.
I'll experiment with it on one and see how it looks. It might just work with this kind of image. If not I'm going to make tags about the same size and color and use some adhesive then put it over it. In a way to try and keep it as close to the original as possible.
i'm willing to bet that scratching out "hi-pointe" and writing in "creepy crawl" will make this a tad better. something's gotta break up that green and it may as well be hand scrawl.
No trouble frome here, Johnny. But I am the one who gave the info to Art. So it was my responsability to bill them as ILCKII. I fudged on it. Doing 6 shows in two months, I've fudged a lot of things. That's why I'm taking a break. I'm taking Nov. off and hope to come back in Dec. If the club I'm supposed to have this Dec. show gets back to me. Rhey've already screwed me once.
Thanks ENM! I'm really looking forward to it. Should be one of my best shows. Although I get the feeling hardly anybody's going to be there. A lot of people don't like going to the club it's at. Kind of had no choice since the original club, the one in the poster, flaked out on me. So I'm anticipating an ass kicking. Just hope there's enough people there to make it look respectable. I'm willing to dig in my account to get their guarantee, but I don't have much in it to dig for. But as long as the show kicks as much ass as I think it will, it'll all be worth it.
BDR: Probably the best club show I've ever seen, man. I'm telling you, St. Louis is in for a barn-burner for sure! Don't worry about the the "The" attached to Modey Lemon, they refer to themeselves that way on stage, so either way is good. My ears are still ringing from that set! Ear plugs recommended, yo.
this one wasnt directed at you, but at the other one responsable for the poster itself. But i'm not looking for trouble or anything, just pointing it out.
Yeah, that's another one of my bads'. That's what they were called when I saw them last year, which is when I got into them and that's still how I refer to them. Hell most of the people around here never heard of them so I don't think leaving of the II is going to hurt anything. But yeah, I probably didn't do as good of a job giving the info as I should of. With all that's happened to me in the last month, I'm just glad this show's happening here and I'm alive to see it.
So this is what it looks like. I like it. Can't wait to get my copies and put them up all over town. Hope the green print is easier to read in person. But it definately fits the band. This is the first poster I've had made for one of my shows that wasdone by "heavy hitters" and I'm very happy with it. Although I guess I should have had it say Modey Lemon instead of The Modey Lemon, but my bad. Now, got to break out the sharpie and scratch out Hi-Pointe then put Creepy Crawl over it.
