Ha, I'm booked in the studio tomorrow.... not a great deal i can do. I need to get paper and medium for the shop there, and they won't be able to supply that until tomorrow. If i could i would.
Seriously...when this scene is said & done and 20 years from now people reflect back on its high points, this piece of art will be mentioned. And everyone will wish they had one.
I hope nothing negative results from this, because I think it may go down in history as one of the coolest gig posters ever. A very good rock & roll take on a timeless cultural icon.
Wow - this posters is amazing!
Disney is pretty rabid about protecting their characters. They even sue daycares with unlicensed murals. I think they let the Wood orgy poster go because the guy who published it already beat them in a lawsuit over the Air Pirates comic - he was able to prove it was a valid satire. Rather than haul him into court again, Disney just went after people who bootlegged the Wood poster – I believe they won those cases. That was all around the late 60s though. From what I understand – someone please correct me if I’m wrong – since the 80s Disney has handled these cases differently. Even if they lost a case now they might just keep appealing the decision until the defendant ran out of money for legal fees.
generally speaking, disney is pretty flaky about what they choose to care about. don't they let that Wally Wood Disney Memorial Orgy illustration get passed around all the time?
Again, this rules my face.
Is the Mickey a reference to the Disney banning at HOB?
As for the Disney characters...hell, if Ron English can get away with it...call it "Social Commentary"
This is amazing!!! I had the same thought as Denny though, isn't Disney rabid for going after anything with their characters that's the least bit recognizable?
