I just thought it was referencing the song "When I was 8
I was sure
I was growing nerves
Like steel in my palm
Make a map of what you see
Dragged pain effectively
I was 8,
I was sure
I was growing pain
Like lead in my feet
S.O.S. to my mother
Take the hinges off the door
S.O.S. to my mother
Take the hinges off the door
Oh, oh, sugar spell it out
Like oh, oh, sugar spell it out
Like oh, oh, sugar spell it out
Like O, like H in your gut
Like O, like H in your gut
Like O, like H in your gut
In your gut
S.O.S., S.O.S.
When I was four plus a ten
I was swinging fists
Like nails in a board
Pull your hands inside of you
Six years 'till I'll be through
I was four plus a ten,
I was swinging back
Like a race to be sure
S.O.S. to my mother
Take the hinges off the door
S.O.S. to my mother
Take the hinges off the door
Oh, oh, sugar spell it out
Like oh, oh, sugar spell it out
Like oh, oh, sugar spell it out
Like O, like H in your gut
Like O, like H in your gut
Like O, like H in your gut
Like O, like H in your gut
(S.O.S., S.O.S., S.O.S.)
In your gut, in your gut
In your...

"naduval : seems like the PHF folks get mixed up A LOT in this type of situation..."
... yeah, it does, doesn't it! Ha, man yeah, we've been having some problems in Oregon for sure. I can assure you that we had permission, however we got it from the promoter at Crystal Ballroom and then eventually the band (the autographed copies from Tegan and Sarah are real nice!). Other designers were upset because we had already claimed the poster job at the club! I'm guessing there was a mixup with live nation (they're pretty big) people, but no worries on this end. It just happens sometimes now.
He said: After an outdoor festival, I knocked on Vince Neil's trailer & asked if he'd give me a ride back to my car because I was hot & drunk & my balls were chapped.

there's many a poster i did in the past where i (and the promoter) thought they we were doing the official poster. then suddenly, there were a half dozen other posters - some great, some sucky - showing up. the bands let all their friends do them as well. and, when all those other posters are selling in the score and you can't sell a single one of yours, it sorta hurts.
sometimes promoters get all excited like little kids and give poster jobs to everybody that walks in the door. they think like they're doing everybody a big favor that they benefit from by getting lotsa free advertising or something. they never seem to notice that they're sorta stomping all over the individual artist and their hard work. it's sort of a slap in the face, a 'belittlement'. makes your effort seem like it was unappreciated.
and then sometimes people just do them without asking.
It's Kind of weird but we did a poster for this show. We were asked by Live nation to do the Seattle poster and Portland poster.
I really like this one though.
i believe the last panel is for their song "hop a plane"....not sure about the rest. cool poster, though...makes ya look just to see if you can figure out the sequence.
Thanks, it is fresh! This was designed/illustrated by one of our interns, Andrew Neyer. He was awesome to work with last summer, you should check out some more of his personal stuff here:
