I don't dig either, but can appreciate what the Hives are going for. Maroon 5 however are worser than worse. Blech! Plus the Hives are already on the "county fair" circuit. They'll never break big like they hoped. Amerika has moved on to better american bands. Did you see Black Lips on Conan? I thought Christ had returned. Weird.

While the styles are different, honestly, I dont think its that strange of a billing. Both bands are very commercially accepted and have a pretty polished look and "brand."
