perkinsSend perkins a message :   I can testify that the promoter/venue doesn't always get the message that there's an official series in the works.   2007-10-15 10:20:18

hypoSend hypo a message :   You mean pissed at the club/promoter. If the band doesn't want the promoter "promoting" the show, they can stipulate that in the show agreement.   2007-10-15 10:18:22
perkinsSend perkins a message :   These kind of miscommunications happen all the time. It's not necessary for it to be a big deal. Seems like the right thing to do under the circumstances though, is just admit that it's not official no matter how much work you've put into it, and respectfully pull back. Posting it to a site where the band's management hangs out, even after that same person told you no, seems a bit cocky.   2007-10-15 10:17:18
dennyschmickleSend dennyschmickle a message :   Right, I just wanted to reiterate that. BTW: I started a thread about this so we can move this out of the comments section and into the forums like it should be.   2007-10-15 10:16:04

Michael ApparatusSend Michael Apparatus a message :   It probably doesn't matter how many posters are made. It does seem important, however, that if you plan on selling the posters that you have the band or management's approval.   2007-10-15 10:07:06
standardSend standard a message :   in real life, i don't think it matters how many posters are made for a rock show.   2007-10-15 10:03:07
Iron Canvas StudiosSend Iron Canvas Studios a message :   this is why communication is seriously the most important part.   2007-10-15 10:02:25
tanxxxSend tanxxx a message :   so that's a problem... I thought about it for the unsane european tour, some designers have deals with venues, and I had a deal with the band ... fortunatly it didn't distrub anything but that's a problem.   2007-10-15 10:01:19
the hipoisieSend the hipoisie a message :   Why don't people contact bands to make sure posters are OK after they've gotten permission from the club? What's more difficult, sending an email, or printing a run of poster and getting a band pissed at you?   2007-10-15 09:47:41
Dan ApparatusSend Dan Apparatus a message :   The really stupid part is that the promoter is responsible for any kind of promotion for an event, including posters. So really the band making posters for THEMSELVES is infringing on the promoter's job. Happened to us with Spoon earlier this month too. Who has the right to make the poster here?   2007-10-15 09:47:20
philaarts.comSend philaarts.com a message :   you have to fax me a permission slip.   2007-10-15 09:07:17
mara piccioneSend mara piccione a message :   A bootleg poster?? wow. So, when a poster is not made on request by the band but by the venue, it is a bootleg poster? Well in that case.... i've made a melvins bootleg too:) Or are these US-rules-only.   2007-10-15 09:06:37

powerhouseoneSend powerhouseone a message :   dudes, chill. We didn;t mean to get the Portland legends panties all in a bunch. We asked to do this poster for the promoter before the poster series was set up and we were approved. Moss told us we couldn;t do it, but we already had them printed. We sent 30 to the club for promotion, like usual, but we're not trying to sell them at all. We're just giving them away, no worries!   2007-10-15 07:27:05

Seamus McClernanSend Seamus McClernan a message :   I was the A&P today and a 1/4 piece of watermelon like this was priced better than $6! That'd be $25 to make a whole melon.   2007-10-14 21:49:24
