The single best thing about the Misfits with Danzig is that each record sounded very different yet, still the same. They went from that weird electric piano rock-a-billy thing to punk, to hardcore, to proto-thrash metal. All while still sounding totally like the Misfits. Pretty awesome achievement all things considered. All of their sounds were totally viable Misfits records. Then Glen left and they put out a couple of decent speed metal records. Now they just kind of make me sad.

All 3 albums by orig Misfits rooled the skool... though my preference is for Static Age. The Ramones did like a billion albums of 50s edge punk and the Misfits only one... but damn it was good.

The Graves era Misfits were good. Not great like the Danzig era but, still good. I look at it kind of like AC/DC. Both versions singers were good. Or like Black Flag. All the singers were good. Everything after is horrible and really shouldn't be considered the Misfits. It'd be like if Kieth Richards got a whole new group of musicians and toured as the Rolling Stones.

I have Walk Among Us somewhere on cassette. That's pretty good, but I guess I'm more of a 70's punk fan than an early 80's hardcore fan. I kind of missed out on the Misfits. I was into the Ramones, Damned etc when I was younger, but by the time the Misfits, Dead Kennedys & such came around I was already moving toward Iron Maiden & shitty hair band stuff like Dokken. Billy – thanks for the poster dude. Yeah, I think Glenn took punk rock and added his own thing, and for the most part I think the misfits were his to make and mold. The songs, music and writing are classics of the punk era. To have written "Bullet" as a poem in high school and then to turn it into that song = smart!
