Brute666Send Brute666 a message :   I like the layout and lettering but I think the color choice is a little subdued for Super Joint Ritual. Darker colors would have been more dramatic with the illo. IMHO.   2003-01-07 14:25:20
guyburSend guybur a message :   yeah this is better for text. the layout thing comes whenever it comes. interesting lines.   2002-11-09 11:29:51

the krakenSend the kraken a message :   Thanks guys. It's nice to be compared to Hess even though he gets blasted here but like I said before I have to start somewhere. I'm really not trying to ape Hess I've just been drawing like this for a huge section of my life. Oh and if someone says they don't like your work it's not as bad thing. I'm learning everyone misses on a piece here and there and art is always subject to opinion. The main thing is to Learn, Learn, Learn from it. I feel it's the only way to get better. Thanks again guys.   2002-08-26 17:54:21

kolfacekillaSend kolfacekilla a message :   i wish i could draw half as good as d.hess. i look through books on peter jones and frank frazetta and i could see hess being that kind of artist, if he'd take it to the next level, get away from the sketchy stuff.
seems like he's been a target on this site for awhile. if someone said to me "your stuff isn't very good" about my posters, it'd make me feel pretty shitty.

seripopSend seripop a message :   better lettering than hess that's fer sure.. still i'd work on getting away from the direct influence...   2002-08-26 09:03:41
uncle charlieSend uncle charlie a message :   On A level MUCH higher than HESS.. If Derek's work was this good I would understand his popularity, but its not and I don't. Brian Mercer, that is some really nice work..You deserve derek's popularity..   2002-08-26 08:56:54
