how scary was it you ask?
well, it was literally a dirt celler under a wino bar-turned-art-gallery. it had one exit/entrance in the back up a rickety staircase. a deathtrap. i saw johanna went perform there in full meat.
the u-men used it as a practice space. when the burrhole surfers broke down in seattle way early in their "career', they LIVED THERE for a month or two (yeesh). really crazy. it ended up sorta forging a bond between austin and seattle.
note; this is a very early melvins poster. larry reid, the guy who managed this gallery also rmanaged the melvins a for a brief time. he is quite an important guy in a lot of circles.
graven image was probably the single scariest venue i've ever seen.
