the blackouts began as one of seattle's very first punk bands - the telepaths - in about 1976. in the early 80's they changed personael and changed to the blackouts. after the blackouts moved to san franciso, they sort fell apart (their lead singer erich werner became a street person). the remainder of the band moved to chicago and became the core of ministry with jorgenson singing. so, 'ministry' began as 'the telepaths' from seattle.
