This is in my kitchen up real high on the wall. My girlfriends had this for years. I had a feeling this was Art's but I wasn't sure till now.
I wish the Kilowatt still had shows.
all those photos came from an old dude who used to be a pro wrassler in the fifties, and later did a nesletter/magazine. and friend of mine who was a letterpress printer was approached by him to print his autobiography. he had this mouldy old box from his dirtfloor garage that had all of these printing cuts (on rotten boxwood and corroded as hell) of these wrasslers. i had my letterpress friend print up a set of proofs. about two hundred of them. i swear jack kirby created the hulk and the thing from some of these very same photos.
Bobo Brazil- "He was sort of an idol because there were no black wrestlers around back then," the Rev. Donald Adkins told The Herald-Palladium this week. "Everybody loved him, especially the kids."
Good question. The oldest black wrestler I knew of was Bobo Brazil. That dude wrestled all over the world, and wrestled into his seventies! Passed away some years ago.
