wow, nice to get some insight into the process on this. i never did a turpentine transfer with letterpress....sounds cool though... does it require a new piece of paper everytime? I really wanna see this thing in person now with the process being so involved.
Nolen, yep, inked 'em by hand. Only did 25. I don't mind the time it takes, it keeps me off the computer. I don't sleep musch anyway. The type is lead. The Red is a linoleum block, and the image is a turpentine transfer. The pressure from the press transfers the image to paper. That's why I usually make the design so simple, because the process is a little complicated.
hey f2, when you say proof press, you mean one of the ones you have to ink the plates by hand everytime and that doens't have the auto-inking wheels? if so, that's quite a process...how many did you run? also, are you using polymer plates for the image/red shape? just wondering how you made that press-ready. nice work. i like the uneven-ness of the lower type too.
No, it's nothing new. Just a simple poster for some very simple musicians. The bottle image is actually much darker than this picture. Printed on an old Vandercook proof press. Thanks for the feedback.
