some of this artists other work is really great..
like, very original and very well done...
its just that a band like the Who could have so many artists giving it their best effort to make something great, or at least professional looking....
I saw them on the Rolling Stones' Rock 'n Roll Circus on PBS last night.
I love watching Keith Moon play drums.
I'd seen the clip from Kids Are Alright, but they really stole the show.
My jacket's gonna be cut and slim and checked,
Maybe a touch of seersucker, with an open neck.
I ride a g.s. scooter with my hair cut neat,
Wear my wartime coat in the wind and sleet.

I don't know if I'd say The Who were ever actually mods... their management thought it would be good for sales if they dressed like mods and put out cash-in mod-related singles like "I'm the Face"... they are definitely totally linked to and identified with mod culture though so the motorbike illustration doesn't really work for me. That said, a mod on a vespa would have been way too obvious too... hmmm
boadicea: ouch. I gave several options to the promoter and this is the one they chose.
grushkin: yeah The Who were mods but were rockers first. Remember they held the title of loudest band on earth for all those years. The souped-up low-slung british bike (Triumph/Vincent) and those old-school goggles and helmet seemed to fit for me.
