DecabetSend Decabet a message :   Awesome man, mission accomplished then! Heres to you finding a different way in. Thats great.
They really are a potent live act, which I think is better than selling alot of records. I think thats gonna be the thing that carries them for a lot longer.

HamptonSend Hampton a message :   This show was freaking amazing! They played two 2 hour sets for two different crowds. A friend and I stayed for both. What an incredible band! I was able to meet them between shows and get a couple posters signed, they dug it. Questlove said that the image made sense for their darkest album to date. Cool cats for sure!   2007-02-05 00:27:57

HamptonSend Hampton a message :   Thanks for all of the cool comments! I'm pretty happy with this one, mostly because the band is so amazing and I was really inspired. 'Game Theory' is my favorite album of last year, it's thoroughly filthy.   2007-02-02 20:41:29
TwoManWarSend TwoManWar a message :   This poster is so friggin surreal--I keep coming back to it.
While the Roots are definitely not "gangsta", but the downfalls of street life and how it has effected black society are a big theme in much of their music. So the poster fits thematically.
Plus, Black Thought and Malik B will slay any opponent on the mic. That is my extra justification--perhaps these are metaphorical "verbal bullets."
Man--what a great band--These guys fuckin' sampled Radiohead for god's sake!

MaximumFluorideSend MaximumFluoride a message :   I think this might be my favorite ever from you Justin. Great stuff. And I have never heard the Roots so I can't attest to wether it fits, but it rules anyway.   2007-02-02 18:24:12
Eric DyckSend Eric Dyck a message :   i don't think this image is "gangsta", and Black Thought writes plenty of metaphorically violent lyrics. there are a lot of image choices that could have glorified violence...don't know if this is it.   2007-02-02 18:10:15
Dusty!Send Dusty! a message :   again i think its rad but i think its just off base a bit for the roots. The lyrics you quoted are far from the norm for them, and those lyrics are talking about the problems with the "gangsta" attitude and lifestyle.   2007-02-02 17:35:32
Michael M. MotorcycleSend Michael M. Motorcycle a message :   Yep. This is fantastic.   2007-02-02 17:29:53
HamptonSend Hampton a message :   From the song "In the Music' from GAME THEORY..."Philly never scared and them n***z ain't timid there Them young triggers lose lives by the minute there. It might start but the fight never finish there. They all f**ked up tryin to get the gingerbread. A few stacks be the price for a n***'s head. Cops and robbers, cowboys and indians Clips and revolvers and George's and Benjamin's."   2007-02-02 17:15:04
