kozikSend kozik a message :   A la Jermaine...I have no memory of doing this poster. I was probably shitfaced drunk and high on cheap speed purchesed from 'Uncle Pervy' the creepy failed jeweler/dope dealer.
edition unknown, 1 color Xerox done on a stolen kinkos card.

jasoncrossSend jasoncross a message :   no shit, just try to explain it to anyone who was not there...and its imposible...The Beach, Lets Go Skate, Sex on the capital lawn, Les Amies, Halfpipes in backyards throughout central austin, ditch skating in pflugerville, Lone Star skatepark, and *tears* Liberty Lunch - Cave Club - Jelly Club - and Emo´s was not even alive...jesh, who would have thunk it.   2002-06-07 15:41:30
kozikSend kozik a message :   how awesome was it to like ride your bicycle or deck downtown to some big gross smelly bar with 1 dollar beers in the middle of the summer and pick up some girl and go eat cheap mexican food at like 7 in the morning. We lived in paradise and did not even know it. Bats and acid at the Capitol Building at 3 am.   2002-06-07 15:34:13
jasoncrossSend jasoncross a message :   Very nice! This reminds me of the ether days of Austin´s glorious past. Simplistic in some aspects but what a torturous grip on a vibe...this spells out exactly what the baNDS ´felt like´ it is fucking awesome...I used to have many of these covering my walls next to hardcore porn...oh to be a 19 year old skater living on his own in central austin corrupted by every temptation that tempted me, and happily so.   2002-06-07 15:31:36
rockologistSend rockologist a message :   "if you can't do it in b&w, you really can't do it at all." how wonderfully true. all my sketchbooks, all my drawings have always been in b&w. and i've never dreamed in color. not that i'm comparing anything i've ever done to this...   2002-05-30 08:35:56
art chantrySend art chantry a message :   i agree with jermaine. everybody waxes poetic about frank's later work ('all that color, man!"), but i always get all wet over his early stuff. this is damned powerful stuff in anybody's book. i always try to talk my clients into doing strictly b&w just because it can look like this, but everybody always thinks color means better. if you can't do it in b&w, you really can't do it at all.
great stuff! what was that combo of drugs, again, frank?

kozikSend kozik a message :   Ha! Those days where alot of fun...I was dropping lots and lot of crappy acid, drinking like a fish and snortin' crank...I had no money so I was limited to Kinko's, white-out and those press on vinyl letters I would swipe from the hardware store.
kinda like my Weimar Republic days...from chaos came something.
now I'm just a bloated old man!

JermaineSend Jermaine a message :   Sweet. See, this kind of stuff was so cool because it was so 'bordering on OUT OF CONTROL'...really. Its like, the image is wild...and the text is trying hard to stay 'restrained'...Very cool. Thats why, no matter what he does from here on out, KOZIK has earned a lifetime pass (in my book) to screw up. When all artistic roads seemed to be telling me that I had to 'do corporate' to actually get paid for art...man, Frank showed me another way. I know Chantry did that for lots of other guys. Thats what its all about. Seriously. Passing that on. If my work EVER influences someone else the way this stuff did me...THATS so substantial.   2002-05-29 20:28:08
