mr frumpy* i'm actually a fan of eva's work but that work became suspect when she said "yeah it was taken from an old porno mag ive got here at home, just traced it then re worked it to the cartoony style. ". i know it's a lengthy debate on what is 'theft' but just be honest on what the soarce is.
Scrojo, the thing I dont get about it is Evas drawing style is just like this.... look at her warped and Majic dirt stuff, Ive seen pencil sketches shes done on bits of paper while were waiting for a Train... so I really dont get it. I think everyone on heres ripped from somewhere at some stage... even the guy from brazil using a coop image a few weeks back, and well... not alot was really said. I expected a torrent of shit to hit the fan, and really it was weak, but these are just observations that mean little. BTW Scrojo, youre outputting some fucking nice stuff!!! again, an observation that means little. hahahahaaaa
devilpig* yea, bizarre how two artists can see the same image in an obscure 60's porno mag and come up w/ the same design. only one problem........ it wasn't from a mag! shane took the photo himself of a friend.
I doubt Shane would be happy about his shit being swiped. But who knows, maybe they both got it from the SAME porno mag and by pure chance drew it in the exact same style(shane's of course). It could happen.
trucker* yep, this was a fairly blatent theft. i never did tell shane about it (altho now i feel super-guilty because you guys were amazing to jump to my defence when i got ripped-off this week). i was hoping that eva would come clean about where she got it but....she didn't. very sad. i really like eva's stuff but now i have to wonder how much is her's.
side note* i have a 'semi-theft' design of mind that i wasn't going to post but i will now. a few years ago, as a personal exercise, i tried to draw coop's 'lolipop devil girl' (one of my favorite images) from memory. as an exercise i realized i have no memory and my anatomy skills need a hell of alot of work. i found this 'misfit' design and did use it for a poster, w/ a couple changes (...in my defence tho, this is one of the few of my posters i will not sell).
eva* i really like these posters, i think the color and layout are great but.......
i know where you got the girl. it's a goth version of the opening page illustration from shaneglines.com.
