This just arrived and absolutely kills in person!!!! The metallics and eye-popping orange and every little detail are just perfect. Has to be seen to be truly appreciated.
My dad went car shopping after some drinks at lunch with a friend, the family ended up with a Transam in the garage.
He was supposed to get another citizen car (he was a straight laced front office drone, got a new car every 3 years like clockwork, and this was when he was going to retire soon, so it was supposed to be his 'last' car ), had been looking at chryslers and buick town cars.
Went out one Friday afternoon after pounding a few at lunch, ended up with this cool grey sportycar. Man he loved that thing, was probably the only 'crazy' thing he did in his small c conservative life. He was a hero at work, my mom hated it.
The poster is great. Benatar, I pass on that.
I've been drunk plenty of times myself in one of these...actually an '80 Formula that my friend's dad owned. I loved that car & got to drive it all the time, listening to the Police & the Knack on 8-track.
I got to drive it because (unbeknownst to me at the time) my friend and his dad were scamming insurance companies. They bought an '80 Formula and an '80 Z-28 with the con money. The dad was faking being disabled and never drove his car. My senior year, the two were boating in the Texas gulf, and the boat mysteriously exploded, killing the dad. He had a million dollar insurance policy. They found him a year or so later living in Alabama.
Yup, it's an '80. There's actually a little story to this illustration. One of the first times I ever got really drunk was in an '80 Trans Am with Benatar playing. I drank a shitload of Miller and then ate steak & eggs. Of course I got sick in the car. I made it to the window only to have the wind blow my puke all down the side of this dudes beautiful Trans Am. True.
I saw Pat Benatar in '82 or so...to this day one of the worst shows I ever saw.
This is bad ass Stainboy. I've always had a thing for Trans Ams, especially this model with the recessed headlights. 1980?
